Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy services for the 2009 Under 19 Men's International Championship will be provided by Sports Centre Physio located in the Sports Centre at 153 Belvedere Avenue, Charlottetown just down the raod from the University of Prince Edward Island. It is a private clinic available to athletes, students, faculty and staff as well as the general public. Although the Centre treats a variety of conditions, both physiotherapists have a special interest in the prevention and care of sports related injuries, and have covered many events on the field as well as in the clinic.
The clinic is open from 7 am until 7 pm normally. Treatment later
than that would have to be by prior arrangement, i.e. the clinic
will not stay open just in case someone showed up, but are
flexible if arrangements are made.
The costs are $60 for an assessment and $45 for follow up treatments. Most people have some form of health coverage that will cover at least 80% of the fee. During tournaments, clients pay as they go. The clinic provides the necessary receipts so athletes can collect from their insurance companies. The only exceptions to the "pay as you go" system would be those people who are able to assign benefits to on the appropriate forms. If they have 100% coverage, there would be no up front charge to them. With 80% coverage, they would only have to pay 20%.
Taping is not covered by any health plans. The clinic is willing to provide this service for a nominal fee of $5 if the Clinic provides the tape, $3 if the player brings his own.
