

On February 26th, 2007, Charlottetown was given the chance to add their mark to softball history in Canada when Softball Canada announced that the City of Charlottetown had been awarded the right to host the 2009 U19 International Men's Softball Championship. 2009 will mark the inaugural year for this prestigious event and will feature some of the best male softball athletes in the 19 year old age category from across the world. The 14 team Championship will include 11 provincial/ territorial teams, and 3 other teams from the United States, Mexico and New Zealand making this a true International event!
Taking place from July 7th to 12th, 2009, at Central Field 1 and 2, this 6 day event will attract hundreds fans, family and friends from across Canada, the United States, Mexico and New Zealand in addition to the over 300 athletes and officials participating. The economic impact of this event is estimated at $750,000 with an anticipated 2,000 people attending the event daily.
The City of Charlottetown is one of our major sponsor. The City has made a major financial contribution to the tournament and will be providing first class softball facilities. Without the City of Charlottetown's contribution, this event would not be possible.
