About the Tournament

2009 will mark the inaugural year for this prestigious event and will feature some of the best male softball athletes in the 19 year-old age category from across the world. The 13 team Championship will include 11 Provincial and Territorial teams, and a team from the United States and one from New Zealand making this a true International event! Softball Canada intended for this new event to replace the experience of participation in Canada Games for Provincial and Territorial teams as men's softball has been removed as a competition sport in the 2009 Canada Summer Games.

The 2009 Under 19 Men's International Softball Championship will be held from July 7th to July 12th, 2009 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island at Central Field 1 and 2 on Burns Avenue. There will be 11 teams representing Canada (excluding the Yukon and Nunavut). There will be one team from Salt Lake City, United States, and a team from New Zealand for a total of 13 teams. The event has been endorsed by Softball PEI

Men under the age of 19 will pitch the ball upwards of 70 miles an hour to home plate for the batters to hit. If you're new to the game, you can learn more about fastpitch softball.

Host Team

There will be an Under 19 Host Team representing Prince Edward Island in the tournament. They are looking forward to the opportunity to host the best Canadian Under 19 men's softball teams in the country and teams from the United States and New Zealand.

Prince Edward Island is a wonderful place to visit in the summer, and athletes, coaches, families and fans may wish to come early or stay late to explore all the PEI has to offer.
